Michael Suchy, Florida Gulf Coast

Florida Gulf Coast’s Michael Suchy is an impressive baseball player but what really wins people over is his tenacity and focus.  Each athlete is different and Suchy is special because he plays the game hard like a hard-charging Rob Gronkowski-esque bulldog with a seek and destroy mindset.  Suchy performs well collegiately and on the summer ball circuit. He is one of my favorites because he plays so hard and will do whatever it takes to win.  In games against more publicized programs like Florida, Suchy rose to the challenge and hit SEC pitching well.  There is no misdirection or sleight of hand with a guy like Suchy because he is fearless and will overpower foes.

Last year, Michael had one of the best offensive seasons in recent Northwoods League history. The sophomore had a team-leading .349 batting average with 8 home runs, a team-leading 62 RBI and also demonstrated his impressive size-to-speed ratio by stealing 17 stolen bases. He finished fifth in the Northwoods League in batting average and second in the RBI category. Like his Florida Gulf Coast teammate Brady Anderson, Michael was named to the 2012 Northwoods League All-Star team.
