Good things are coming for Hutton Moyer, an infielder who just completed his freshman season for the Pepperdine Waves. Located in beautiful Malibu, CA, the picture- perfect campus has a solid baseball program that consistently produces exceptional talent on the diamond. The Waves play in the West Coast Conference. Hutton is the son of Jamie Moyer, a stellar owner of a remarkable career that spanned over two decades. The younger Moyer Hutton earned All-Freshman WCC honors.
As always, here are my notes on Hutton:
Bats: S Throws: R
Height: 5’11 Weight 160 lbs
School: Pepperdine University
A freshman infielder, Hutton hit his first collegiate home run on May 1st against Cal Poly. He paced the Waves to a victory by going 3 for 5 at the plate. As a senior at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, Hutton hit .300 and posted an on-base-percentage of .361 for a Dons team that went 30-5 in 2012. His impressive hitting skils and impressive bloodlines evoke comparisons to current Cleveland Indians prospect Joe Sever.
A native of San Diego, CA, Hutton is the son of two-time 20-game winner and AL All-Star left-handed pitcher Jamie Moyer. The venerable southpaw finished his impressive 25-year playing career with the Colorado Rockies last year. Hutton is also the brother of Dillon Moyer, an infielder for UC-Irvine and a 2010 MLB draft selection of the Minnesota Twins.
